Welcome to the De Genna Lab
Here we are interested in behavior and health as a function of intersecting identities related to age, race, gender, sexual orientation, and mental health. To reduce health inequities, we believe it is important to better understand contextual factors underlying them. We use mixed methods studies to get a better understanding of when, how, and why individuals use common substances like marijuana, nicotine, and alcohol and how that relates to experiences, mood, major life transitions, and health. It is impossible to create long-term change without investing in and diversifying the next generation of scientists and clinicians so we are also dedicated to training graduate students, medical students, research fellows and postdoctoral scholars.
